MMCD IDS 2026 Primer Course

A Practical Introduction to Infrastructure Data Standards and PIM Delivery

📍 Course Format & Delivery

  • Date & Time: Tuesday, March 109:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  • Format: Live Online (Microsoft Teams)

  • Duration: 3 hours

  • Prerequisite: General knowledge of survey, design, drawing production, GIS update processes, and CAD/GIS technology

🎯 Course Overview

The MMCD IDS 2026 Primer Course provides a holistic overview of the MMCD Infrastructure Data Standards (IDS), with a specific focus on the 2026 updates and an introduction to the data delivery specification for post-construction PIM (Project Information Model) submissions.

This demonstration-based session walks through how AutoCAD and Civil 3D support municipal infrastructure workflows—from survey and existing conditions modeling, through design modeling and drawing production, to the creation of PIM deliverables for submission to the Owner. The course concludes with a discussion on future for MMCD IDS and where the standard is headed.

🧭 Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Understand the complete suite of standardized components in MMCD IDS

  1. Learn the AutoCAD / Civil 3D workflow for municipal infrastructure and land development project procurement

  1. Understand the data delivery specification for post-construction data submissions to the Owner

  1. Understand the purpose and preparation of the PIM (Project Information Model)

📘 Course Topics

Key topics covered include:

  • IDS 2026 Civil 3D updates, including:

  • Flexible colour plotting

  • Standardized DWT components

  • Automatic linework creation and symbol insertion
