I reinstalled or updated Safeguard Viewer and now my Desktop licence says it’s already used up. What do I do?

When you uninstall or upgrade Locklizard Safeguard Viewer, the old installation’s registration stays on the licensing server, so the fresh install reports the licence as already in use. You can release it yourself from your MMCD account..

• Log in at mmcd.net
• Go to Dashboard → My Documents
• Find the Desktop document (e.g. 2019 MMCD Edition)
• In the Actions column, click License Transfer
• Select “Move my license to another device”
• Confirm. If you’re a current MMCD member there’s no charge and the transfer completes immediately. Otherwise a $41.90 CAD transfer fee is taken at checkout.
• Watch for a new email from Locklizard containing your viewer licence file. Open it with the Safeguard Viewer to register your new installation, then re-download the document from My Documents if prompted.

Your licence stays on your own account, only the device changes.

Don’t see a License Transfer link? It appears only for Desktop and Mobile licences that are active and already registered. Web Viewer and Enterprise licences are browser-based and don’t register to a device, so they never need this. If a Desktop document is listed but the link is missing, contact MMCD Support with a screenshot.
